Virginia’s Presidential Home Tour
The commonwealth of Virginia is known as the birthplace of presidents since eight of our presidents were born in Virginia. This tour just celebrates so much of our countries history and we are so excited to share it with you.
May 3, 2018 – We have an early departure this morning headed to the great state of Virginia. On our way we have breakfast (included) at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant. This afternoon we visit Ash Lawn-Highland, home of James Monroe and his wife who was the 5th president of the United States. We overnight in Fredericksburg.
May 4, 2018 – Breakfast is included at the hotel and we then travel to Mount Vernon, home of George Washington and his wife Martha. We have lunch included at the Mt. Vernon Inn. Our next stop is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and we visit Montpelier, which is the home of James and Dolly Madison who was the 4th president of the United States. He returned here after his presidency and died here in his study. We overnight in the Charlottesville area.
May 5, 2018 – After breakfast at the hotel (included) we visit one of the most beautiful homes of any of our presidents and that is Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. The scenery here is some of the most beautiful you will find anywhere. You will tour the home, the grounds and the burial grounds. Lunch today is included at the historic Michie Tavern. This afternoon we visit Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum. We also tour Wilson’s birthplace and the Presbyterian Manse. We overnight near Lexington, Virginia.
May 6, 2018 – After breakfast at the hotel (included) we visit Stonewall Jackson House. Home of the Confederate General, Washington and Lee University, Lee Chapel and the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery. After our visit we travel home with some great memories of our countries leaders.
