The Loretta Lynn Tour Music - Mountain Adventure / Butcher Hollow, Kentucky


August 16, 2018 – You will start your travels today through Blowing Rock, Boone and on to Abington, Virginia.  On arrival we will have an included lunch in Abington and then we take our seats for an incredible show at the Barter Theater.  We will then continue on to Prestonsburg, Kentucky for a three night stay.



August 17, 2018 – This morning after breakfast, (included) we begin our day at the US23 Country Music Highway Museum.  This museum displays memorable items for stars like:  Ricky Skaggs, Patty Loveless, The Judd’s, Billy Ray Cyrus, Chrystal Gayle, and of course Loretta Lynn and many more.  Our next stop is the Mountain Homeplace.  The Homeplace recreates mountain life in the 1850’s from historic architecture to authentic period farming methods.  Some methods include cooking, gardening and like on a self-sustaining family farm.  This afternoon, we visit the Coal Railroad Museum.  This museum is housed in an authentically restored 1911 train depot.  You will enjoy a fine collection of photos, artifacts, and script that will take you back through the history of this unique coal mining town.  Dinner is included tonight at Billy Ray’s featuring great country cooking.  People of Kentucky come together for two hours of Kentucky music at the Music Mountain Theatre.  We take our seats tonight for this incredible show.



August 18, 2018 – This morning we will have breakfast (included) and continue on our first stop at Webb’s General Store that is owned and operated by Loretta’s brother Herman Webb.  Next we visit Butcher Hollow which is the birthplace of Loretta Lynn.  You will be amazed how Loretta and her family grew up in the Hollow.  Everyone will be treated to a cold drink and a Moon Pie.  This afternoon we take a platoon boat ride on Dewey Lake.  A box lunch is included before the cruise.  We return to the hotel to freshen up and dinner is included tonight before we take our seats for Billie Jean Osbourne’s Kentucky Opry.  Your feet will be tapping and your hands clapping as you enjoy country Bluegrass, Oldies, and Gospel.



August 19, 2018 – Once we have breakfast (included), we will check out of our hotel.  We then enjoy worship at the historic Mayo United Methodist Church.  This church is known for its beautiful stone construction and the massive pipe organ will take you away.  We return home late afternoon.
