Moonbow at Cumberland Falls State Park and Big South Fork Scenic Railway

DAY ONE: May 17, 2019

Upon arriving in Cumberland Falls, Kentucky, we check into our hotel for the night. This afternoon we visit Cumberland Falls (considered to be the Niagara of the South). The waterfall has a plunge of 60 feet into the gorge below. When the sky is clear, enjoy the rainbow that occurs at the base of the water falls on clear evenings and when there is a full moon, you will view the moonbow over the falls, this is the only place this happens in the Western Hemisphere. We have chosen a date that we hope it will be a full moon and we trust Mother Nature cooperates. Dinner is included tonight at the Riverview Restaurant.

DAY TWO: May 18, 2019

We will have breakfast (included) at the hotel and we will head to Sterns, Kentucky for a wonderful time aboard the Big South Fork Scenic Railway. On the train excursion, immerse yourself in the beauty of the Big South Fork National River and Recreational Area on a leisurely voyage from the historic Stearns depot to the heart of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Experience roaring rivers, soaring mountains, and unparalleled vistas on your way to the 80 year-old Blue Heron Coal Camp, restored mining facility with hiking trails, historic displays and a snack bar. A bag lunch is included on the train. After the train ride we board our coach headed home with a few stops along the way.
