A Maine Adventure

DAY ONE: August 24, 2019    

This morning we depart for a wonderful adventure of New England. On this tour we will see some of the most beautiful scenery New England has to offer. We overnight in Aberdeen, Maryland.

 

DAY TWO: August 25, 2019    

After breakfast at the hotel (included) we continue north to Hartford, Connecticut to visit the Mark Twain House. Here Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and other great classics were penned while Samuel Clemmons lived here. This beautiful three-story Victorian mansion displays many rare Tiffany pieces plus other memorabilia. Dinner is included tonight and we check into our hotel. Tonight our hotel is in Central Massachusetts.

 

DAY THREE: August 26, 2019

After breakfast at our hotel (included), we head for the State of Maine. Our first stop will be the town of Kennebunkport. We will stop at the Seashore Trolley Museum. This museum is the home to the world’s largest collection of trolleys and electric street cars and we will also have a guided tour of the restoration shop. In Kennebunkport you will have lunch on your own and some time for shopping in this beautiful town. We now take a ride along Ocean Avenue past Walkers Point Summer, home of George and Barbara Bush. This afternoon we visit the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Company and Museum in Portland. We will have the pleasure of riding along the shore of Casco Bay in a historic rail car pulled by historic steam or diesel locomotives. Our hotel is in Portland, Maine.

 

DAY FOUR: August 27, 2019

Breakfast is included at our hotel and we visit the Portland Head Lighthouse, the most photographed lighthouse in the world.  Next we visit the home of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, where the celebrated poet spent his childhood.  Then we arrive at LL Bean Store for some great shopping and lunch will be on your own.  This afternoon we arrive in Bar Harbor for a 2 hour nature/sightseeing cruise with great views of homes, lighthouses and so much more.  A lobster dinner is included tonight in Bar Harbor.  We check into our hotel for a 2-night stay.

 

DAY FIVE: August 28, 2019

Breakfast will be at the hotel (included) and today we meet out local step on guide for an experience of a life time.  We will visit the Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain.  This is one of the most visited National Parks in the world and the scenery is breath taking.  Our guide will tell us the history of the park and we will make stops along the way for pictures.  Lunch is on your own during the tour.  We will visit downtown Bar Harbor this afternoon and the great Lobster Feast will be included tonight.

 

DAY SIX: August 29, 2019

Breakfast is included at the hotel and we will leave Bar Harbor and head to Bangor, Maine.  We will stop at the Cole Land Transportation Museum.  We also visit the Paul Bunyan statue and of course we cannot leave without a visit to the Stephen King House.  This bestselling author’s home is recognizable by its spider web front gates topped with bats.  Next we visit the showroom at the Thomaston Prison Store.  This store is filled with wooden items made by the inmates, which includes toys, furniture, kitchen items, jewelry boxes, and so much more.  We overnight in Connecticut.

 

DAY SEVEN: August 30, 2019

After our breakfast at the hotel (included) we have to depart our hotel and head to Philadelphia.  On arrival we pick up our step on guide for a tour of this historic city.  We will visit National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell, Rocky Statue, Independence Hall and more.  We overnight tonight in Maryland.

 

DAY EIGHT: August 31, 2019

Breakfast is included at the hotel and we must head home after a wonderful week in Maine.  We make a surprise stop along the way and arrive home early evening.
